Varanasi Milk Union
The Varanasi Milk Union,
commonly known as Parag Dairy Varanasi, is a vital unit of the Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation (PCDF), an apex body managing
cooperative dairy development in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1947, the Varanasi Milk Union has been playing a pivotal role in
promoting organized dairy development and empowering rural farmers in the Purvanchal region (Eastern Uttar Pradesh).
The Union is primarily engaged in the procurement, processing, and marketing of milk and a range of dairy products. Through its
extensive rural network of Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCSs), it collects fresh milk from thousands of farmers daily, ensuring
quality and fair prices, thereby contributing significantly to rural livelihoods and the regional economy.
Recognizing its strategic importance, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) тАФ the premier institution behind India's "White
Revolution" тАФ assumed management control of Varanasi Milk Union in December 2021. Under NDDB's stewardship, the Union is undergoing
modernization and professionalization, focusing on enhancing milk quality, operational efficiency, farmer engagement, and customer
satisfaction.
Today, Varanasi Milk Union continues to build on its legacy, ensuring timely payments to farmers, maintaining stringent quality
standards, and delivering high-quality milk and milk products to consumers. It stands as a symbol of cooperative strength and a
key player in advancing the dairy sector across the Purvanchal region.
